S.T.I. (U.K.) Ltd. Invests in New Woodland Reserve to Support Carbon Offsetting and Biodiversity Restoration
A Long-Term Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
At STI UK, sustainability is not a standalone initiative — it is part of how we operate. As a business responsible for moving goods across the UK and Europe, we recognise the environmental impact of our work and are committed to taking meaningful steps to reduce and offset it.
This commitment has led to the creation of the STI Freight Management UK Woodland Reserve, established in partnership with Make It Wild, a UK organisation specialising in ecological restoration and nature-based carbon offset projects.
What was once agricultural field is now home to 341 newly planted native UK trees, forming the foundation of a young woodland that will continue to mature over the coming years.
Native species have been carefully selected to support local ecosystems and enhance biodiversity — a key priority for both STI UK and Make It Wild.

Creating a New Woodland in North Yorkshire
Located at the Sandlands Reserve in Great Ouseburn, North Yorkshire, the new woodland marks the start of a long-term investment in restoring natural habitats. What was once agricultural field is now home to 341 newly planted native UK trees, forming the foundation of a young woodland that will continue to mature over the coming years.

Supporting Carbon Offsetting and Climate Action
Through this project, STI UK has offset 1,250 tonnes of CO₂e, helping to mitigate the environmental impact of logistics operations while contributing to long-term carbon capture. As the woodland develops, it will:
This investment goes beyond carbon offsetting — it strengthens local biodiversity at a time when nature recovery is more important than ever.
“From first contact, we could tell that S.T.I. (U.K.) were aligned with our values. They understand that restoring our natural ecosystems is of utmost importance, and must be done urgently, at scale. Their contribution to creating a new nature reserve in North Yorkshire will create a lasting legacy. It is clear that they are aiming to have a positive impact for the planet, and we will see that first-hand, as the flora and fauna find the space that has been restored for them to thrive.”

Cared for by Experts, Designed for Future Generations
The team at Make It Wild will continue to manage and nurture the woodland, ensuring the young trees grow strong and remain protected. Their passion and expertise were clear from the start. As they shared:“From first contact, we could tell that S.T.I. (U.K.) were aligned with our values. By actively contributing to research and professional dialogue, STI Polska supports the development of responsible, high quality, and temperature controlled transport solutions across Europe.
Part of a Wider, Company-Wide Sustainability Effort
This UK woodland initiative complements an earlier project launched by STI (Deutschland) GmbH, reflecting a shared commitment across our organisation to restore natural spaces and reduce environmental impact.Together, these efforts demonstrate how teams across STI are taking action in their own regions while contributing to our broader sustainability strategy.
Looking Ahead
The STI Freight Management UK Woodland Reserve is just the beginning.
As the trees grow and the site evolves into a thriving nature reserve, we look forward to sharing its progress — and continuing our journey toward a more sustainable future.
