Marine & Cargo Helps S.T.I. (U.K.) Ltd. Move Closer to Their Sustainability Goals with Their Investment
in All-Electric S.KOe COOL Trailers
Sustainability has always been at the heart of our values. As a logistics company, we recognise the environmental impact of our operations and are constantly striving to minimise that impact. We are fortunate to work with partners who share our commitment, and today, we would like to highlight a significant milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable future.
For many years, we have trusted our hauliers to help us meet our high standards of service while reducing our environmental footprint. One such partner is Marine & Cargo, a family-run business with over 30 years of experience in the logistics industry and a long-standing relationship with our subsidiary, S.T.I. (U.K.) Ltd. Today, we are proud to share that Marine & Cargo is the first in the UK to integrate Schmitz Cargobull's all-electric S.KOe COOL semi-trailer into their fleet, directly supporting our sustainability goals.
The state-of-the-art trailer will be used exclusively for our temperature-controlled transport needs and is a key part of our effort to reduce emissions. By incorporating these zero-emission trailers, Marine & Cargo has already eliminated approximately 200 litres of diesel per week, significantly cutting their carbon footprint while maintaining the exceptional service we have come to rely on.

What makes this achievement even more special is the combination of the S.KOe COOL with a Mercedes-Benz Actros Gigaspace tractor unit, which runs on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), further reducing emissions. This partnership between the electric trailer and HVO-powered prime mover brings us closer to achieving near-zero emissions in our operations.
The innovative trailer also generates its own energy through an electric axle as it travels, recapturing energy during braking and reducing recharging times. This technology not only lowers emissions but also improves efficiency and reduces costs—benefiting both our business and our customers.
The trailer, proudly displaying both the Marine & Cargo and STI Freight Management logos, symbolises the trust and collaboration between STI UK and their partner.
